Address to Coordinates turns a free-text address — a full street address, a city, or anything in between — into a latitude and longitude pair. Type what you have, in whatever form it's in, and MapGO matches it to the closest thing it can find, returning the coordinates alongside a match score and a plain-English explanation of that score.

The same panel has a second mode, Clean Address, for when you don't need coordinates at all — just a tidied, completed version of an address you already have. Paste it as one line, however messy, and switch modes without leaving the tool.

Both modes lead with a standardised address: one clean line, written the way the country it belongs to writes addresses — the house number before the street in the United Kingdom, after it in Poland, the ZIP code after the state in the United States — with a copy button beside it and the same address broken into its individual fields underneath.

How it works

Every match comes back with a cleaned set of address components — house number, street, postcode, city, district, region and country — with MapGO's own administrative boundary data used to fill in whichever of those the match itself didn't supply, and the filled-in fields marked so you always know what came from your input versus what MapGO added.

The match score runs 0 to 100 and is shown as a band — High, Review or Uncertain — never as a percentage or a probability, because match quality genuinely varies by country and by how much of the address you gave it. The accompanying reason explains the score in plain English: a missing house number, an ambiguous street name, a locality-only match, and so on, rather than leaving you to guess.

How to use the Address to Coordinates Tool

    Open the address tool

    Open the MapGO workspace and choose Address from the Analyze tools, or use the shortcut Q.

    Type the address

    Enter as much or as little of the address as you have — a full street address, just a city, or anything between. An optional country code narrows ambiguous searches, such as a street name that exists in more than one country.

    Read the match and the score

    The result shows the matched coordinates, a match score with its band, and a plain-English reason explaining why it scored the way it did.

    Check what MapGO filled in

    The cleaned address lists every component the match resolved, with the fields MapGO added or corrected marked so you can see exactly what changed.

    Switch to Clean address, if you just want tidied text

    Toggle to Clean address and paste the address as a single line — something like "12 florianska krakow poland" is enough. You get back a standardised one-line address in that country's own order, plus its separated fields, with no coordinates involved.

What is a match score?
A 0–100 score reflecting how confidently MapGO matched your input to a real address, shown as a band — High, Review or Uncertain — never as a percentage or a probability. Every result also carries a plain-English reason explaining the score, such as a missing house number or an ambiguous street name.
How accurate is the match?
It depends on the address and the country. MapGO tells you the precision level of the match — down to house number, street, postcode or just a locality — rather than promising a precise pin every time. House-number level matching is less consistent in some countries, including the US and Canada, than in others; the score and reason are there so you can judge each result rather than assume the best case.
What does "filled" mean in the cleaned address?
It marks a field MapGO added or corrected rather than one you supplied — for example, filling in the region and country from its own administrative boundary data when your input only gave a city and postcode.
Are there daily limits?
Yes. Anyone can try it without an account, at 5 lookups a day; signing in for a free account raises that to 10 a day, and paid plans get a larger daily allowance on top.
Can I clean an address without geocoding it?
Yes — switch to Clean address in the same panel and paste the address as one line. It returns a standardised address and its separated fields without requiring or returning coordinates.
Why is the standardised address in a different order from what I typed?
Because it is written the way that country writes addresses, not the way the input happened to be arranged. A British address puts the house number before the street and the postcode after the town; a Polish one puts the number after the street; a US one puts the ZIP code after the state. The standardised line follows whichever convention belongs to the country of the match.
Where does the address data come from?
Matches draw on structured place and street data, including OpenStreetMap-derived data, combined with MapGO's own administrative boundary data for the region, district and municipality fields.
