About MapGO
Built by a solo founder to turn raw coordinates into practical geographic answers.
Why MapGO Exists
MapGO started with a practical but difficult question from real work: how can you calculate the distance from thousands of coordinates to the nearest coastline, quickly and accurately?
Solving that led to a broader idea. Many people work with coordinates but don't want to learn complex GIS software just to answer straightforward geographic questions — where a location is, which country or area it belongs to, how close it is to a border or coastline, or how far apart two places are. That is what MapGO is built for.
What MapGO Helps You Do
- Distance to coastline calculations
- Distance to border measurements
- Location hierarchy finder
- Bulk CSV processing
- Browser-based geospatial file conversion

Prepared global location data
Datasets for countries, regions and subregions, built from hundreds of sources
Single lookups, bulk CSVs and file conversion
From one coordinate to thousands, in the workflow that suits you
Built by Sebastian
I'm Sebastian — originally from Kraków, Poland, and now based in Ireland. I've spent most of my life drawn to computers and technical problem-solving, which gradually became a career in software development, data, and product building.
The coastline question that started MapGO led somewhere bigger. A lot of the work has happened behind the scenes: researching and combining data from hundreds of sources, preparing location datasets for countries, regions and subregions, and building the geospatial backend that makes results fast in real-world workflows. What began as single coordinate lookups has grown into a platform with bulk CSV processing and browser-based file conversion.
MapGO officially launched on 16 December 2025, and I continue to build it independently around a simple mission.
Turn raw coordinates into practical, useful geographic answers — quickly, clearly, and without unnecessary complexity.
